An officer and R.T.O. of the 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry, 196th Infantry Brigade on a mission near Chu Lai (I Corps).

Both men have helmet covers made from camouflaged parachute fabric. The officer carries a CAR-15 (XM-177) rifle, a shortened and improved version of the M16A1.
