SOG CCS

Formed in January 1964 the Military Assistance Command Vietnam, Studies and Observation Group ( MACV-SOG) conducted covert operations behind enemy lines in Cambodia, Laos and North Vietnam. SOG's reconnaissance activities focused on the Ho Chi Minh trail and were carried out by three regional subdivisions: Command and Control North (CCN), Command and Control Central (CCC) and Command and Control South (CCS). The CCS insignia featured a skull wearing a green Special Forces beret in front of a yellow and red shell burst. Two drops of blood drip from the skull's mouth.
