B-3A Summer Flying Gloves
Specification
MIL-G-9087
The B-3A Summer Flying Gloves were standard issue for all U.S. pilots at the start of the Vietnam War. Made from leather, they provided only limited fire protection and caused excessive perspiration in the tropical conditions. These deficiencies were corrected with the introduction of the fire retardant
Nomex gloves
in 1967.
