Australian Jungle Trousers 1st Pattern
The Australian Jungle Green (JG) uniform was adopted in 1958. The trousers were made from 9oz cotton twill and had two side pockets, left and right hip pockets and a large map pocket on the left thigh. They also had a button fly and boasted an unusual waist fastening arrangement that featured crossover belts. A lighter 2nd pattern design was widely issued in Vietnam from 1967, however, the 1st pattern trousers were never entirely superseded.
