The Direct Molded Sole version of the Army’s all-leather combat boot was classified as standard 'A' issue on 5th Jan 67, though limited production procurement actually began on 14th Aug 1964.1 The DMS boot weighed on average 6oz per pair less than the stitched sole originals, had superior traction and twice their 6-9 month life span.2
