Indian Orange Summer Flying Coveralls
Specification
MIL-C-5390
Both Army and Marine Corps helicopter pilots wore the orange summer coveralls early in the Vietnam War. Identical to the cotton twill
khaki flight suits
, they were fire retardant but lost their protective properties after approximately 14 washes and thereafter had to be treated with a Borax solution.
This particular orange flight suit was worn in Vietnam by an Army Medevac pilot.
