Natick Labs developed the trilby style Jungle Hat and Mosquito Net for Special Forces in 1962. The hat had three screened ventilation eyelets on each side, an adjustable chin strap and a pocket inside the crown for storing the insect net. It was later adopted by the Air Force and redesignated as the HGU-18/P Tropical Hat.
