South Vietnam Dong
The National Bank of Vietnam introduced the South Vietnam Dong (VNR) on 30th September 1955 as a replacement for the French Indochina
Piastre
. It was divisible into 100 Xu and was originally issued at par with the Piastre. The South Vietnam Dong was issued throughout the war, but following the North's victory it was replaced in September 1975 by the Vietnam South Dong (VNS).
