M7 Bayonet

The M7 Bayonet attached to the M16 rifle and was intended for use in close combat, guard duty, or as a general knife. It had a 6-3/4 inch steel blade, a molded plastic grip and a muzzle ring on the cross-guard that passed over the rifle's flash suppressor. The M7 also featured left and right hand release levers on the pommel, unlike the M6 bayonet, which had a single release latch at the base of the handle. When not in use the bayonet was carried in the M8A1 scabbard.
