M8A1 Bayonet Scabbard

MIL-S-796
The M8A1 scabbard featured a steel plated throat and could sheath either the M5,
M6
or
M7
bayonets. Early versions of the scabbard were issued with a leather leg tie for when it was worn on the
belt
, whilst later models featured a steel point cap and a nylon lace tie. The scabbard could also be attached to the M1956 intrenching tool
cover
or hung from the eyelets on the flap of the
butt pack
.
