5th Special Forces Beret

The Special Forces Green Beret (Rifle Green Army shade 297) was made from wool and was formally sanctioned as part of the SF uniform in December 1961. The 5th Group beret flash had the colors of South Vietnam (yellow and red) emblazoned diagonally across a a black shield with a white border. This beret belonged to Sgt. Ron Hibbard who served with a Special Forces B-team in Ban Me Thout (II Corps) between 1970 and 71.
