Australian 2 Quart Collapsible Canteen

The Australian Army's 2 Quart canteen assembly was very similar to the model issued to U.S. forces early in the Vietnam War. Though the cover was made in the same two-color camouflage as the Aussie raincoat, it shared a number of features in common with the American cover, including:

  • A single lift-the-dot fastener
  • Shoulder strap
  • Belt loop
  • 1-inch wide reinforcement strip across the back
  • A drainage eyelet located either side of the central leg-tie eyelet

The plastic film bladder was also similar to the U.S. model, but boasted a wider aperture. Though the American 2 quart canteen assembly was completely redesigned in 1967, the Australian design continued in production throughout the war.
