The M4 bandoleer was designed to contain 7.62mm linked ammunition within a cardboard carton. This particular bandoleer held 100-rounds of linked ammo for the
M60 machine gun
, which was comprised of 4 M80 ball cartridges for every 1 M62 tracer cartridge. During rainy season operations in Vietnam M60 gunners and assistant gunners typically carried their ammo in the M4 bandoleer.
