Developed during WWII, the 3-Pocket Grenade Carrier was made from olive drab (OD-7) cotton duck had could accommodate six fragmentation grenades.1 It had a brass double-hook hanger on the back and was equipped with two cotton tie tapes. The carrier was used by the Marine Corps in Vietnam, as their standard issue M1961 ammunition pouch had no straps or pockets for attaching grenades.
