U.S. Naval Construction Force teams operated in Vietnam between 1963 and 1972, building camps, roads, airstrips and carrying out civic action projects. Though they were primarily involved in construction and training, Seabee Team members were also sometimes involved in combat.1 Their insignia featured a cartoon busy bee wearing a navy hat and armed with construction tools and a tommy gun.2
