The 18th Military Police Brigade arrived in Vietnam in September 1966 and was heavily involved in the fighting in Saigon during the Communist’s 1968 Tet offensive. Their insignia was officially authorized in June 1966 and featured the silhouette of a Roman fasces charged with an upward pointed sword.1 Fasces, a bundle of rods bound together around an ax, were carried before ancient Roman magistrates as a symbol of authority. The Institute of Heraldry
